Fun Sunday: 11 questions tag

Hello loves! I've been tagged by two lovely bloggers to do this tag. I thought it would be fun to answer these questions because each blogger does their own questions so you end up answering different ones each time. I'm gonna tweak the rules a bit. I'm supposed to write 11 things about myself, but I already wrote 7 things here and here, so that's a total of 14. I also won't tag anybody. I'm not sure people like to be tagged in these things, so instead I'll just answer the two sets of questions. Ok, here it goes!

I Bleed Polish's questions:

1. If you can go on a vacation anywhere in the world, where would you go? South America!
2. What is your favorite color? It used to be red but now it's a tie between red and blue.
3. What is your #1 favorite nail polish brand & you HAVE to pick one! :) China Glaze forever!
4. How did you come up with the name for your blog? Well I just thought about it for a few days and it came up!
5. What are your top 3 favorite nail polish colors? Of course my favorite is blue! Then minty green and purple I guess.
6. What is your favorite food that you can eat everyday? Cheese :)
7. What is your favorite Disney movie? Haven't thought about this a lot. I'm gonna say Alice in Wonderland.
8. If you were stuck on a deserted island what 3 things would you need besides necessities like food & water? Books, nail polish and some kind of computer that charges from the sun. That's quite clever, I know!
9. Do you prefer writing in script or print? Script when I want to write fast (like in class) and print if I want it to look nice.
10. If you can meet a celebrity who is dead who would it be? Patrick Swayze
11. If you were able to star in a cartoon one day which cartoon would you pick to be in? American Dad

Kelly's (Polish Entusiast) questions:

1.What is your favorite thing about painting your nails? Having a perfect, shiny result and fun colors.
2.Are you a big fan of Konad art? Why? I recently became addicted to stamping. I love that you can do so many designs you wouldn't be able to do otherwise and in such a short time.
3.Do you change your polish every day? No. Mostly every 2 or 3 days.
4.What is your favorite kind of polish?( holo, glitter, crome, pastel, jelly, etc) Man this is hard. I will go with glitter.
5.Do you like longer or shorter nails? Shorties are the best!
6.What would you like to see more of from polish companies? Flakies!
7.What is your favorite season? Spring.
8.What is your favorite food? I really can't say because I like so many. Steak, fried chicken and pizza are between my favorites, along with chocolate and cake.
9.What do you like to do when its nice outside? Take a walk trough my neighborhood or in the park.
10.What is your new years resolution? I didn't make any. I guess trying to spend more of my time doing stuff I love doing.
11.Where is your favorite vacation spot? Italy.

Thank you so much girls for tagging me! I hope you all have a great Sunday!

Fun Sunday: YouTube

Hello loves! Fun Sunday is back! This week I want to talk about YouTube. Now I'm sure you all watch music videos and whatnot on there, but my favorites are nail videos. I love to watch tutorials to find inspiration and learn new techniques. I have a bunch of channels that I love and I check everyday to see if they posted new videos. So I though I would share them with you. If you know of other awesome channels that I didn't list, feel free to leave me a comment and I'll be sure to check them out. I also added a few of my favorite makeup gurus.

General nail art

  • cutepolish - This might be the most famous nail art channel on YouTube. Her tutorials are easy, well explained and her voice is so soothing. And of course the designs are so cute!
  • Creativenailart - A European channel! This talented girl from Holland has amazing nails and does the best designs on them!
  • IHaveACupcake - Another famous channel with cute and easy designs. These tutorials are always so fun to watch!
  • TotallyCoolNails - She always comes up with the greatest ideas for nail art. Her designs are very original!
  • IndigoNova1 - Again, we have a very original nail artist here! You must check this channel out!
  • Pixie Polish - Cute short nails and a toothpick. This is all you need to create amazing nail art!
  • LuvableNails - A fresh channel with breathtaking freehand nail art.

Stamping nail art

  • soguesswhat11 - The ladies who are into stamping regard her as the ultimate stamping guru on YouTube. She has lots of tutorials and has reviewed pretty much every plate set available.
  • DandyNails - I listed her in the stamping section but she also has freehand nail art tutorials, hauls and reviews. I found this channel 2-3 weeks ago and had so much fun watching almost all of her videos.
  • PlasmaSpeedo - She recently made a tutorial for stamping using acrylics. She is also the author of the awesome "Sh*t Nail Polish Addicts Say" video.
Makeup gurus

  • julieg713 - This was the first channel I subscribed to on YouTube. She also has a lot of nail videos!
  • emilynoel83 - Emily has the most thorough reviews on makeup products and a lot of them are drugstore brands that are accessible over here too. Plus she's such an amazing person!
  • DulceCandy87 - Her videos always cheer me up. I love her fashion and makeup hauls! And we're exactly the same age too!

I hope you will check some of these out! Have a fun and relaxing Sunday!

Fun Sunday: Adventures In Stamping

Hi. I'm back! So for this week's Fun Sunday it's all about nails! Some of you might have heard that there's a group on Facebook called Adventures In Stamping and some of you might even be in it. For those who don't know about it, it's an awesome community of ladies that are into stamping nail art and every week has a theme or a challenge. Everybody posts their themed mani on Sunday and then we can enjoy all the great photos and comment on them. If you are into stamping and are interested, you can check it out here.

This week's theme was an all-blue stamping manicure. It's my first week in this group and what better way to start it than having my favorite color as a theme. I used Essie Coat Azure as a base color and did the stamping with my trusty China Glaze First Mate. Seriously this polish is amazing! It's so pigmented and great for stamping. I used my Born Pretty plate m73 for this design.

I'm really happy with how this turned out. It looks much better in person and I don't know why it didn't photograph properly. One thing I've learned since I've started this blog is that nail art is so much harder to photograph than plain colored nails. Maybe some of you reading this have some tips to share. Please comment below!

This was the first time I was able to do a full stamping mani without messing it up. It's still not perfect, but it looks pretty good to me. I also managed to stamp twice on my wide thumb nail without doing a big mess. I have to thank this amazing group on Facebook because I've learned so much from them. It's also a big motivation to have a theme and do a design every week. I'm so glad I joined! I wish you all a very fun and awesome Sunday!

Fun Sunday: The Versatile Blogger Award

Hello loves and happy Sunday to you all! First, a little rant. Next week is gonna be very busy because I have a really hard exam and so little time to study. I have a lot of pictures to edit but no time to do it. So I'm gonna do something that I haven't done before, take a longer blogging break. I'm gonna be done on Friday, so don't expect a new post until then. Hope you will forgive me!

I was nominated for this award by two lovely bloggers. You can check out their blogs yourself  here: I Bleed Polish and Psycho Nails. I'm very honored and thankful that they thought of me! The reason I've been postponing this post is the fact that I have to write 7 random things about myself (again) and I'm not very good at that. Even while I'm writing this introduction, I have no idea what I'm gonna say about myself. Oh well...

1.I drive a blue Citroen C3. It's a small car, but so easy to drive and I love it!
2.I'm kind of a morning person. Well, I'm not one of those who wake up at 6 am, but I function better in the morning. I hate it when I have classes in the afternoon and studying at night just doesn't work for me.
3.I have a very good visual memory and that's what I rely on when studying.
4.I'm really bad at remembering numbers. The only way I can remember them is by visualizing them written (visual memory again).
5.I'm always early when I have to be somewhere at a certain time. I hate being on the rush and I love taking my time to do stuff properly.
6.I live in the attic of my house. It's a very large room and I have a lot of privacy, which I love.
7.I used to love playing computer games but now I don't have time to do it anymore. I envy the people who have a lot of free time.

That's it. Hope I didn't bore you too much. I was supposed to pass this to 15 other bloggers, but since I'm the last one to do this tag, I'm sure everybody has got this by now. If you haven't, please feel free to do it. I hope you all have a nice and fun Sunday!

Fun Sunday: Kreativ Blogger Award

Hello and happy new year! It's the first day of 2012 and it's also a Sunday. So what better way to start the year than a fun post and a tag. I received this award from Marisa over at Polish Obsession. Thank you very much for tagging me, I feel really flattered!

The rules are:
  • Link back to the person who gave you this award
  • Complete the form below
  • Award 10 other blogs and let them know in a comment or email
  • Share 7 random thoughts about yourself

The form

1. NAME YOUR FAVORITE SONG:
I have a lot of them. Most people know that my favorite is Eagles' "Hotel California" , so I'm gonna go with that one.

2. NAME YOUR FAVORITE DESSERT:
It's really hard to chose because I love pretty much everything. Chocolate cake is what I chose for my birthday dessert, so it must be my favorite.

3. WHAT TICKS ME OFF:
When people don't listen to what I say or interrupt me. I really try to respect what others are saying and always pay attention, so I hate it when other people don't.

4. WHEN I'M UPSET I:
Don't like to talk to anyone, hate it when people call me and make me be rude to them.

5. WHAT'S YOUR FAVORITE PET:
I am, hands down, a dog person. I have only had dogs as pets my whole life and I can't imagine not having any.

6. BLACK OR WHITE:
I prefer black because I think it goes better with my skin tone. But I do like white nail polish.

7. BIGGEST FEAR:
Being old and not being able to take care of myself.

8. EVERYDAY ATTITUDE:
I always tell myself to take it easy, but I end up caring about all the stupid stuff.

9. WHAT IS PERFECTION:
A day spent with somebody you love, doing whatever. A summer night sky. And neatly manicured nails, of course.

10. GUILTY PLEASURE:
Watching shows like 90210. But I don't really feel guilty about it.

7 random thoughts about myself:

  • My biggest pet peeve are chipped nails. I can't stand walking around with chips and I usually either patch them or remove my polish. It makes me wanna scream when I see girls walking around with polish on only half their nail. I would say something, but I don't wanna be rude.
  • I love South-American authors like Garcia-Marquez, Vargas Llosa or Ernesto Sabato. I also love The Vampire Chronicles by Anne Rice. I haven't read any Twilight or such and don't intend to.
  • As some of you might have noticed, I'm left handed. So most of my pictures are of my right hand because it always looks better.
  • I like everything to be planned ahead. That's why I usually have a few posts prepared or at least a few pictures ready for my next post.
  • I love watching American TV shows. My favorites at the moment are Bones, Big Band Theory and Once Upon a Time.
  • I was in a German school and I also speak Italian and a bit of Spanish (besides English of course). Sadly, I didn't manage to learn French although I've tried a few times.
  • I'm kind of a computer geek. But don't tell anyone.

And my award goes to...

Rebecca @ Pandora's Nails
Katy @ Nailed It

I'll make sure to notify everybody after I return from my trip. Have a happy new year, everybody!

Fun Sunday: Merry Christmas!

Hello loves! Just a quick post today to wish you all a happy and peaceful Christmas. I have no doubt that this is a fun Sunday for everyone. Enjoy the holiday season and the moments you get to spend with your loved ones!

This is a picture of the small tree from my room. Some of my stuffed animals live beside it, including my holiday penguin and my singing pig that has reindeer antlers for the season. I wanted to show you the big tree in the living room, but I couldn't get a good picture, so you'll have to settle for this one.

To all my followers and the people that have been supporting this blog from the beginning, I want to give special thanks. I cherish each and every one of you!

To all those reading this, may this season bring you the peace and rest that you deserve. Let it be a time of joy and happiness and let us forget all the sadness, even if it's just for a while. I leave you with one of my favorite Christmas songs (original version by the great Stevie Wonder).

Merry Christmas!

Fun Sunday: another nail tag

Hello lovelies and happy Sunday! Sorry for slacking off again from last week's post. I wasn't really in the mood for posting last week end. Today I have another nail tag. It's been almost 2 months since I did this nail tag and now I have been tagged by Rachel-Karina from Polished Criminails to do another one. Some questions are similar to the first one, but that way you can see what has changed (polish count especially). So let's begin!

Here are the rules
1.  Answer 10 questions
2.  Pass this tag to 5 bloggers
3.  Make sure that the bloggers you tagged know about this.

1. How many polishes do you have?

I have hit the 75 mark now. That means I've acquired 20 from my last tag. Not that bad for two months.

2. What is your favorite brand of nail polish?

Of course it's China Glaze. I'm a true fan girl!

3. Do you like crackle nail polish, or do you hate it?

I used to like it more, but now I'm kinda over it. But hate is pretty harsh. I would still wear it from time to time.

4. What is your first nail polish brand?

My first polish was a Maybelline. But the first brand I had more of is S-he Stylezone.

5. If you're going to have a nail polish line, what are you gonna name it?

Not sure if Lacquer Buzz would be a proper name. Would have to think really hard about this. It took me some time to come up with the name for my blog too.

6. What nail polish color does not compliment you?

I don't like how gold and copper shades look on me. Luckily, I don't really like those colors either.

7. What color does compliment you?

Blue is my top color. I would say darker colors look best on my skin tone.

8. Name two of your best nail art friends.

I don't have any. The people I'm friends with aren't into nail art.

9. What was the best nail polish gift you have ever received?

It was, hands down, Revlon Facets of Fuchsia. It was actually a giveaway win, but I love it to pieces and can't imagine not having it in my collection.

10. Make a speech about thanking the blogger who tagged you.

Thank you Rachel! It is actually the first time someone tags me specifically. I'm flattered that I was one of your top five choices!

Now for the five bloggers I'm tagging, I think I'll go with those ladies that read my posts all the time and comment  constantly. Here they are:

Esther @ Fab Fingertips
Boarbb @ Bottles of dreams
Julie @ Turtlechick's Nails N Tales
Marisa @ Polish Obsession

Yeah, I've cheated a bit. I've tagged only 4 bloggers. I didn't want to tag anyone that doesn't want to be tagged. If you wanna do this tag, don't mind the rules, just do it! Also, stay tuned because I have another post in store for you today! Have a great Sunday!

Fun Sunday: winter outfits

Hello my beauties! It's time for another Fun Sunday post. This time I played a bit in Polyvore and came out with two outfits I would love to wear this winter. If you don't know what Polyvore is, let me tell you that it's a website that lets you create outfits using pieces from all over the internet. You can add accessories and makeup to complete your outfit, and other fun stuff too.

First off, fashion is not my thing so don't judge these too hard. These are just things that I like and I think look cute together. The first one is just a basic everyday winter outfit. It has cozy boots, a knit sweater and a coat similar to the one I just bought yesterday. The polish I chose is Essie School of Hard Rocks, just because I think it's the perfect dusty winter shade and goes with everything.

The second outfit is something I would wear to a Christmas or New Year party. I went with the little black dress, but I like this one because of the lace detailing. The shoes are the stars of this combo so I kept it simple with the jewelry. Again I'm going with the red (can you tell I like red for winter?) and I'm trowing in a pop of color with OPI Gettin' Miss Piggy With It and NYX Snow White lipstick (perfect shade of red that goes great with my skin tone).

I hope you liked my ideas. I can't wait to read your comments! Have a great Sunday everyone!

Fun Sunday: 20 questions tag!

Hello my lovelies and happy Sunday! For this week's Fun Sunday post I decided to do another tag. This has been around on youtube and blogs for the longest time so I don't really know who came up with it. I also have a nail tag I have previously done and you can find it here. So let's get started with the 20 questions tag!

1.Thing you cannot leave the house without: My phone of course, wallet and keys. And gloves in the winter.

2.Favorite brand of makeup: This one is tricky. I'm not into expensive stuff because I'm on a budget. I think that from what I have, it's Nyx.

3.Favorite Flowers: I know it's a cliche but, roses.

4.Fav clothing stores: Stradivarius and New Yorker

5.Fav perfume: I'm not really into perfumes. One I've really enjoyed is Calvin Klein Obsession Night.

6.Heels or flats: Mostly flats, but if I find a confy pair of heels, why not?

7.Do you make good grades? I mostly do.

8.Fav colors: Red and blue. Blue for nail polish of course.

9.Do you drink energy drinks? Only when I'm really tired and have an exam or something.

10.Do you drink juice? I rarely do.

11.Do you like swimming? I can't swim :))

12.Do you eat fries with a fork? If they are on the side of a steak. It's not like I'm gonna stick my hands in the plate.

13.Whats your fav moisturizer? Currently I'm enjoying Nivea Mattifying Day Care.

14.Do you want to get married later on in life? I guess I do.

15.Do you get mad easily? It depends on the situation. Some people just drive you crazy.

16.Are you into ghost hunting? Huh? No...

17.Any phobias? Germophobia!

18.Do you bite your nails? Of course not :))

19.Have you ever had a near death experience? I had a car accident once. Don't think it was a near death experience though.

20.Do you drink coffee? Every morning. And sometimes once more during the day. I love coffee!

So that's it! If you are reading this, consider yourself tagged! Have a great Sunday!

Fun Sunday: join me on Pinterest!

Hello everybody and happy Sunday! Just a quick Fun Sunday post today to talk to you about Pinterest. If you haven't heard of it or don't know what it is, let me tell you that it's definitely a lot of fun! It's a new social platform concept that involves pinning your favorite photos and videos on your own board, so you can have all your ideas and inspirational pictures in one place. You can pin stuff you find all over the internet because they have a special widget you can easily add to your browser, that allows you to import pictures and videos from any website to your personal Pinterest board.

Another fun feature is that you can follow other people's boards and see what they have pinned, so you can draw inspiration from other people's pins. You can also browse general pins from people you don't really know or you can choose certain subjects. These range from beauty and fashion to home decor or music and books. Those of you that are into DIY can also find a lot of great ideas here. I made a screenshot to show you how the browsing feature looks like. I, of course, chose the subject beauty and hair.

I have a lot of fun browsing this section every day and I also enjoy the humor section a lot. But you can find lots of stuff according to your interests here. If you want to follow me you can find my boards here. I hope you will be joining me soon! If you need an invite leave me a comment or send me an email. Happy pinning!

And of course you can also find me on Facebook and twitter.  Make sure to leave me a message/tweet when you drop by!

Fun Sunday: they nailed it!

Hi everybody! Today I have a few things I have to tell you. First happy Sunday! I hope you are having a lovely, fun and restful Sunday and that you are spending it with the people you like. Secondly, I think you've noticed that I have a new banner. If not, scroll to the top and look. It was made by my sister using some of my pictures and I think it turned out spectacular! So I have to thank her for that.

If you are new to the blog, let me tell you that Fun Sunday is a post I like to do pretty much every Sunday (sorry for last week's missing post) and talk about something different than my regular posts. Also, I'm accepting suggestions, so if you have a fun tag or idea for me don't hesitate to leave me a comment or send me an email.

Today I want to talk about nails (again!?!) and TV shows. How many times have you found yourself watching a show and seeing only naked, unpolished nails? It seems that these people think that filing and buffing is enough for a manicure. But we want COLOR! So I begin to get excited even if I see some boring red or pink nails. But these ladies that I want to talk about here, really have the nail thing going!

Naomi from 90210

Played by AnnaLynne McCord, I would call Naomi the queen of style. She's always perfectly dressed and her makeup and hair are flawless. So naturally, her nails have to be top notch too. I've seen a lot of shades on her nails, including minty green. I also remember an episode where she was just coming out of the salon sporting a fresh gorgeous purple manicure. OPI also had a small 90210 collection out (back in 2009 I think), but it was made only of reds, while Naomi's manicures are much more creative than that.
I chose this older picture (season 1) because it was the only one I found where her nails were visible enough
*source*

Jane from Happy Endings

I don't know how many of you have heard of this show. It is now on its second season and I find it very funny. If you are a fan of shows like Friends, you will love this. Besides for it being  funny, it also has the character of Jane (played by the talented Eliza Coupe), who is a very put together lady. I wouldn't have expected for her to sport such bold colors on her nails, but her manicures are amazing. She usually has a different color on for every episode.
*source*

Max from 2 Broke Girls

This is a totally new show that just came out. Kat Dennings plays Max, a sexy and smart waitress that wears killer teal polish. I really liked her nails in the first episode and noticed that the color didn't change throughout the first season, so this has become a signature look for her. It seems the polish she is wearing is Wet n' Wild Teal or No Teal (that costs no more than 99 cents). I think this bold color goes perfectly with her style and personality.

I hope you had fun reading this post and if you know other TV actresses with great nails please write a comment below. Happy Sunday!

Fun Sunday: dog pictures

Hello my lovelies! Hope you are having a wonderful weekend and a relaxing Sunday. The weather is sunny and pretty warm over here. For today's Fun Sunday post I have something for all the dog and animal lovers out there: my doggy. His name is Freddy and he is 3 years old now.

He resembles a border collie, but his legs are much shorter. Of course he's an important member of the household, he's full of energy and everybody loves him.

It's very hard to keep him still for a picture though. Here's one from last year. I made a flower crown and this picture is about how long I managed to keep it on his head before he started shredding it to pieces.

Hope you enjoyed my doggy spam. Have a nice Sunday!

Fun Sunday: nail tag

Hello my lovelies! It's Sunday and I was thinking of doing something fun from now on every week. It should be something different from the regular posts and what better way to start than a good old nail tag. You are welcome to suggest other tags or subjects for Fun Sunday posts from now on.

I found this tag here and decided to just do it myself. I don't know where the tag originated or who invented it so if you are the starter of this tag please tell me and I will link to you in my post. So here we go.

How many polishes do you have in your stash?
I currently have around 55, but constantly growing.

Which brand do you own the most of?
Just checked the list and it's ELF (no wonder considering the recent haul) followed closely by my beloved China Glaze and the local brand S-he Stylezone.

What colors do you own the most of?
From the top of my head I would have to say blues and purples.

Do you have a color/texture you do not own?
Unfortunately I don't have any flakies (sigh) and also no frost/pearls because I hate them.

What's the one polish you always pick up to lift your spirits?
Ok this is a hard one. Usually something new that I've never worn before.

What polish do you keep looking at and wondering why you haven't gotten rid of it yet?
S-he Stylezone 399. It's a very sheer, yet goopy blue jelly. I just can't work with it as much as I love the color.

Franken me? or I'm nervous to try it?
Well I'm not into wasting polish at the moment. With my color matching skills I know I would if I would franken.

Do you franken for new/original polish ideas or franken for polish you won't be able to own?
I don't franken. But if I would it would probably be for original ideas. I know I would never be able to achieve a certain shade.

Go-to Base Coat?
I don't have one yet. Trying to find it though.

Go-to Top Coat?
INM Out the door. Cheap, fast-drying and not thick at all.

What's your sexiest polish?
Revlon Facets of Fuchsia for sure!

Nail Design:

Stamping vs Free Hand?
Hard to chose one. I like them both. Probably free hand because it has no boundaries.

Bling me, baby? or No bling for me, please!
If we're talking rhinestones no because they are not my style. But glitter, yes please!

I consider my nails basically nekkid if they don' t have some kind of design?
No because there are a lot of polishes out there that are just too beautiful and don't need a design.

My favorite plate/tool/technique?
Sponging looks amazing and is very easy to do. I think it's the look I love most at the moment.

What I haven't tried and want to within the month?
I have some free hand design ideas that I want to try. Fingers crossed they work out well!

Purchase/Lemmings:

The one elusive polish you want and can't seem to get?
I don't have a specific polish. I'm only hunting for flakies at the moment.

What was the last nail related thing you bought?
Nail polish from nailsupplies.us that hasn't arrived yet (mostly China Glaze glitters and holiday collection).

How many nail related hauls have you bought in the last 7 days (on-line/in-person)?
Only one nailsupplies.us haul. And it's gonna be the last one for a while.

If you've ever been on a no-buy, how long did it last? Is that what you planned?
Well I'm currently on a no-buy and it's been about a week. Hope it goes well.

(and one question to grow on) Hobby? Addiction? Compulsion? Passing Fancy? Love?
If we're talking nails, I guess it's all the things above (although I wouldn't call it a compulsion really). Other than that I love reading, but I don't seem to have enough time to do it.

So that's it. For all those reading this, you are all tagged. You are free to do the tag on your blog or in the comment section, but make sure to send me a link so I can see your answers. Waiting for your suggestions for the next Fun Sunday. Have a great day!
