Pastelized Housewife

Don't these colors remind you of a kitchen in the 50s? The pastel greens and blues that colored the walls, the peach color for the toaster and rotary phone. The gold represents the ever-beautiful housewife, cleaning and cooking in heels and crinoline.

It also reminded me of a bracelet I hardly ever wear.

Both time consuming and difficult, my patience was wearing thin by the end of this manicure. The cleanup was dreadful, as it required more than a few coats to reach opacity, which means goopy taping messes. Honestly, when I started this, the lines were going to be covered by a stamp, but with the goop, I opted for a more complete coverage using Gold Digger (Color Madric). The two China Glazes, Re-Fresh Mint and Peachy Keen do pair well together though.

Teeez Boudoir Secrets Collection

Today I'm showing you a couple of nail polishes from the new Boudoir Secrets collection from Teeez.

Teeez - Cool (04) is a light blue shade with a subtle silver shimmer. I really like the colour, but it was difficult to apply due to the thick formula. I swatched it twice 'cause it looked awful the first time (and I think every polish deserves a decent swatch), but I'm still not happy with how it looks on my nails, bummer! This is three coats.

Teeez - Gutsy (05) is a peachy nude coloured polish with gold shimmer. I can't say I'm a fan of this colour, but it applied much easier than Cool. Two coats.

Teeez - Femme Fatale (09) is a berry creme. Ahh, saved the best for last! This one is gorgeous and it applied like butter in two coats. 

To be honest, I'm not blown away by these nail polishes. Next to the unique shades Teeez made in the past, these three don't look so special. The packaging is cute though. :) Oh, but what's up with the names? I already own shades from Teeez called Cool and Femme Fatale. This can be somewhat confusing, I wish they gave them new names and not just a different number.

A Peachy Desert

Good Afternoon,

The other day I went to Walmart and spotted some new Sally Hansen Diamond Strength polishes.  It's about time for some new shades from this line!.  The bottle is new too it's carved with diamond shapes on the sides of the bottle. Some really pretty ones were missing from the display.  Oh, well I did pick up a few that interested me.

410 3K or More! is a peachy desert sand color with gold shimmer mixed in that's very visable on the nail.  I like it, it's a nice change if you want a break from wearing dark colors.  It took 3 coats to cover well.  I also topped it off with Seche Vite.

Sorry neither picture is color accurate.  It's between both pictures if you can imagine that. Lol!

China Glaze - Chiaroscuro

Mysterious name, right? Chiaroscuro. I looked it up, the french term for it is clair-obscur. Hey, that does ring a bell, I'm sure I had to read about this technique for my art lessons. 

"Chiaroscuro ("light-dark") in art is characterized by strong contrasts between light and dark, usually bold contrasts affecting a whole composition. It is also a technical term used by artists and art historians for using contrasts of light to achieve a sense of volume in modeling three-dimensional objects such as the human body." source

I don't know what the link is with this particular nail polish, maybe there's no link at all.. ah well. Chiaroscuro, the nail polish: a rosy peach with a beautiful golden green flash. It reminds me of those gorgeous seashells with the glossy peachy pink insides! When I saw the bottle I wasn't too excited, though. It's more something my Mom would wear, she likes soft colours on her nails. Well, never judge a nail polish by its appearance in the bottle, lol. On the nail it's not as boring as I thought, it looks feminine and chic! The greenish side of the fine shimmer (pretty!) was quite hard to catch on camera, it's definitely not just a golden shimmer. If you look at the 3rd picture you can see a glimpse of the green in the bottle, that green is clearly visible on the nail too. 

Chiaroscuro has a pearl finish, we all know what that means, right? Hello brushstrokes! I tried to apply it as careful as possible, with a light hand, and the result actually isn't that bad. The nail polish is on the sheer side, with three coats the nail line is still visible at some angles, but I don't mind. I think it will be great as a french manicure topper, have to try that some time!

LIPPMANN COLLECTION!

Good Morning, It's Tuesday and I have 2 Lippmann polishes to show you.  Love the bottle design.  The cap is beveled making it so easy to hold while applying.

                               Don't Tell Mama

Deborah Lippmann describes this polish as a mood ring blue/green shimmer.  It looks like a blacken emerald green with green shimmer with a glossy shine. Indoors the polish is dark.  Smooth application , first coat was opaque used 2 coats. Love it!

I'm Not Innocent

I love this one!  It's a creme creamy peach.  1st and 2nd coats were streaky and applied 3rd coat thick to get an even application.  

  

Did a nail design that was inspired by a blogger *Polished Stars*  used  LA Colors Art Deco pens black and white along with my dotting tool.
