Revlon Whimsical

Hello my dears! How excited are you about the weekend? I don't know how it is where you live, but spring finally kicked in today over here! I can officially retire my winter coat because I was dying with it on today. Yay! This is my favorite time of the year! I also have something really amazing to show you in this post. Drum roll please!

Revlon Whimsical over China Glaze Kinetic Candy, indoors, artificial light
How lucky was I to be able to get this! I believe it is only available in the US. But with the help of an amazing polish fairy, it landed on my doorstep. I was wearing this manicure exactly a week ago, the day I broke my precious nails. So this makes me even more nostalgic. Because it's sheer, this is a definite layering polish. I used China Glaze Kinetic Candy as a base. Look at those two! They were made for each other!

they are actually closer in reality but they photographed a bit differently
My hand is not big enough to hold these two properly. The base color in Whimsical is very similar to Kinetic Candy. So I did 2 coats of the China Glaze and then two coats of Whimsical over it. I was in a hurry and didn't take pictures of Kinetic Candy by itself, but I promise I will the next time I use it. It's such a gorgeous pastel blue!

Revlon Whimsical is made out of large blue and pink hex glitter and small blue glitter suspended in a sheer blue milky base. The glitter pieces can look darker but that's mainly because of the way they are suspended in the polish layers and the way light hits them. This is said to be a dupe of Deborah Lippmann's Glitter in the Air. I don't have that one but according to the comparisons online they are pretty close.

Application is not very easy on this one. The glitter pieces come off from the brush when you wipe it on the bottle. If you don't wipe it properly you will get a lot of the milky base on the nail and that's not good either. It's totally worth it though because this is so dreamy and gorgeous! I've used one coat of China Glaze Fast Forward but it might have used two for it to be totally shiny. I can't wait to layer this over different polishes and see how it looks!

Outlined Flowers

I was originally inspired for today's manicure by Gully Nails's post, Polka Dot Flowers. After looking at her design again, I know I kind of missed the mark, but I'm still sort of giddy about my own design. Sort of seems kind of Spongebob-esque.

The base color here is Secret Peri-Wink-Le (China Glaze), overlaid with Whimsical (Revlon).  The petals are a combination of Feeling Great (Sinful Colors) and Lightening (Sally Hansen Insta-Dri). Finally, I drew the inner pollen spots with Time Off (Sinful Colors).

I will try this again to get it closer to Becky's design, because I absolutely love it.

Brown and Pink with Flowers

Good Morning,

I almost forgot to show you this stamping nailart design right after I swatched China Glaze Foie Gras. (If you missed it look here) It's nothing to brag about and it has lots of flaws but everything can't be perfect... right?  Hope you like it *-*

Used Cheeky XL plate K,  pink dots are Revlon Bubble.  I added the extra dots above the flowers and on the sides of the flowers using my dotting tools.

I love brown and pink as a combo, I think they go well together.

Konad Multi Stamp and Sunday's Manicure

Happy Sunday,

After Friday's manicure today I decided to do some stamping.  Before I show you my nails  I purchased the new Konad Multi Stamp.  Since the scraper is attached to the stamper it works alot faster for me.  Just scrap and stamp. What I like about it, I have my plate on top of a paper towel after scraping on the design  I slide the scraper on the paper towel, this cleans off the polish so no drips. Then all I do is stamp. This elevates me from cleaning off the scraper with a cotton ball or Qtip. What I don't like about it is the metal scraper wish it were plastic because the metal scrapes up the plates.  Other then that I'm glad I got this :D

The stamper is double sided the other end is green and smaller. The holder is nice to display it on top of your nail station.
Here are the directions

I stamped my (right hand) non dominant hand first, but got better stamping results with my dominant hand (left hand).  Everytime I stamp my left hand comes out so much better.  (Wonder why?)

My right hand

I used Revlon LilyChrome with plate Red Angel RA107

Left hand

I like how you can see the glitter peeking through the silver chrome and how you can see like a shadow of the glitter through the petals of the design.

Hope you are having a great Sunday!

Glutton for Glitter

Recently, as in within the past month, I've found myself buying a lot of glitter polishes. A lot. So I thought I'd show off my most recent purchases. Don't be alarmed...and consider wearing sunglasses for the massive amounts of glitter you're about to see. There are so many, my poor light tent couldn't hold them all without showing the white sides for light. Luckily, Photoshop helped me clean that up for your viewing pleasure.

The accumulated collection over the past month.

Color Club's Beyond the Mistletoe collection

Wet n' Wild's Ice Baby collection

Various China Glaze glitters
3 of 4 of the Nicole by OPI's Holiday Glitter 2011 collection.

Gold set from Amber and Dustin at mynailgraffiti.blogspot.com

Oddball glitters from (left to right) Revlon, Wet n' Wild, Sinful Colors, Sally Hansen, and Sinful Colors
I warned you.

I love them all! I realize now looking at the photos that not all of these count as glitters, but more metallics, but they still bring joy and sparkle to my life, so they can stay.

Most of these colors were bought online at Head2ToeBeauty.com. The Gold set was purchased from My Nail Graffiti's Amber and Dustin, and the others were bought in stores at Target, Rite Aid or Walgreens. My lovely sister sent me the Nicole by OPIs. I couldn't find them out here in Colorado, but her Southern California Targets were much more well stocked.

Revlon Smoky Canvas

Hello my lovelies! Today is finally a sunny day around here, after many days of ugly clouds. I thought I would show you the second polish I won in a giveaway on the wonderful blog Fab Fingertips: Revlon Smoky Canvas.

Revlon Smoky Canvas, artificial light
I've been thinking a lot about what to tell you about this polish and the truth is, I was lacking the patience to properly apply it. First of all, Smoky Canvas is a greige creme. It looks more grey in bright light and starts leaning towards beige in dimmed light. It's the perfect neutral shade for fall, but not at all boring. I truly love this color and could see myself wearing it a lot.

I started applying this without any previous research and made a terrible job. I then read Esther's post on Fab Fingertips here, but it was too late. The polish is more on the thinner side but still very pigmented. You will need 2 coats for opacity though. The thing is that it dries very very fast and that makes it hard to work with. I found myself making thicker and thicker coats when trying to level it out. The result of this were a series of bubbles on some of my fingers.

you can see some of the bubbles on my middle finger
Considering the awful job I did with my application, I couldn't leave it on for very long, so I can't tell you anything about wear time. All in all, I think this is a great color that is a little harder to work with but I sure will know how to handle it the next time. I already have some ideas of looks I can do with this so be sure it will be back!

Revlon Facets of Fuchsia

Where to start? I won this polish in a giveaway hosted by the lovely Esther of Fab Fingertips. I’ve mentioned several times that I wanted this polish very bad and had no chance of getting it around here. You have probably seen it swatched on many blogs and forums, but for those of you that are new to it, let me introduce you to the most beautifull polish in the world: Revlon Facets of Fuchsia.

Artificial light (sorry but we have no sun over here). All photos are click-able

FoF is a glitter in a pretty sheer black base. There are two types of fuchsia glitter in it: one is small and round, the other one is large and hexagonal. The polish requires several coats to achieve opacity, so in order to save it and not waste this beauty, I’ve layered 2 coats over one coat of black. Application is very easy, the polish having a perfect formula, which leads to a short drying time.
FoF was almost impossible to photograph. My camera literally freaked out when it saw this polish, and a lot of the photos came out blurry. The ones I posted here are the decent ones. They are a lame excuse for pictures, but it’s the best I could do.

None of the pictures I’ve found on the internet do this polish justice. You can’t capture its depth, nor the way the glitter reflects the light. The best thing to do is to see it in person. If you have the chance to get your hands on this polish, don’t hesitate. You won’t be sorry, trust me!

Craving Coral

Good Morning,

Out of all the colors I have been wearing this summer.  Thus far Coral is my favorite to wear.  It screams summer time.  Revlon Craving Coral is the best coral I came across.  It's an orange-y red coral creme.  It's so rich and vibrant!  The formula is a bit on the thin side though it covered nicely in three coats. I found it at Big Lots for only $2.00.

Craving Coral was on my toes for about 2 weeks.  I loves it!

What is your favorite color to wear during this hot weather?

Until next time please have a great nail polish day. (✿◠‿◠) Share/Bookmark

"New" Revlon Just Tinted

Good Morning on this Fabulous Friday!  Whoo Who it's going to be a long great weekend *-*

There was alot of talk on MUA/nailboard about Revlon Tints. Me being curious I stopped into Walgreen's after work and found them.  They are $4.99 so I grabbed one.  They rung up at $2.99 I went back and grabbed the other 3 along with the topcoat which was $3.59.  After the Cashier gave me my receipt she handed me a $3.00 off coupon.  She liked them so much so she grabbed 2 for herself and put them behind the counter. Lol!

Revlon Just Tinted is a new collection of 4 juicy colors along with a topcoat.  We call them jellies, OPI call them sorbets and now Revlon is calling them just tinted.  The formula is sheer and thin but buildable.  They dry to a plastic like matte finish.  Once you apply a topcoat they are super shiny.

                                           Victorian
Victorian is a bright pink tint. I applied one coat of SH nail quencher hydrating basecoat.  1 coat of Milani smoothe' basecoat.  Then 3 coats of Victorian. You still can see my vnl believe it or not its okay it doesn't bother me.

With Revlon Just Tinted Topcoat

I so would love to have every creme color I own in a finish like this.  It's just something about jellies, sorbets and just tints that I just adore so much!

Here is the untouched display until I got a hold of it
Victorian is the first one...notice there are 4 topcoats

Are you a jelly fanatic?

Until next time please have a great nail polish day. (✿◠‿◠) Share/Bookmark

Win It Wednesday with Revlon!

Good Afternoon!

I have a couple of awesome Revlon's that are just awesome to have.  Top Speeds.  During last year everyone was getting the top speeds from CVS with a coupon. About a week ago one of my Walgreen's had a manager's special for .99 cents can you believe it!?

Royal is a must have.  It's a gorgeous royal blue jelly.  I adore it because it's blue and it's a jelly!  Next is Electric it's a sunshine slightly shimmer yellow.  Many are comparing it to Chanel's Mimosa.  I have seen side by side swatches and I could not tell the difference.  It was said that the Revlon has the better formula.  Way to go Revlon!  Next is Black with Envy.  Now when I saw the display at Ulta it didn't look special to me but I picked it up anyway and I'm glad I did.  It's a beautiful black with a tinge of green shimmer.  It's a really close dupe to Chanel's Black Pearl.  High five to Revlon!

Here are my swatches:

                        Royal
It dries to a semi matte finish

Added one coat of Revlon ColorStay topcoat. These pictures are from my post back in December

Electric
It does have a slight shimmer

I wanted to see what it looked like with a coat of Revlon's Banana Blaze Glimmer Gloss. A pretty yellow sparkly glitter.  My picture doesn't give it justice.  I applied 2 thin coats and one thick coat of Electric.

                            Black with Envy

Great formula only needed 2 coats

From the bottles Chanel Black Pearl has more green in it.  On the nail it's only a slight difference.  They are close.  I used 2 coats on both.  I think Black with Envy is just as pretty!

Can you tell the difference here?

or here?  Very close right?
