Sparkly P·I·N·K

I'm keeping it short, 'cause I'm not feeling well. On my nails I have Catrice - Aretha's R·E·S·P·I·N·K (what a name!). This picture is NOT colour accurate. To be honest, I hesitated to post it. But it's a cheery mani and I love it so it deserves a post. ^_^ In real life Aretha's R·E·S·P·I·N·K is not this light and bright, but a beautiful deep pink. The formula was nice, this is two coats. I also sponged a little bit of Milani - Digital on the tips for some sparkle.

Thanks for watching!

Blue Monday, Milani Sail Away

Good Morning,

Milani new 2012 Spring Collection.  I just had to pickup a few.  Of course I grabbed both blues and a few more.  Today, I am wearing Sail Away a navy blue packed full of blue and silver shimmers.  It's so saturated that I only needed one coat!  I do have on a base coat and ridge filler.  Easy to apply.  Milani is wowing me with their one coaters! I haven't seen Chocolate Sprinkles yet...must find it *-*

Did you pick up any?  Which ones?

Milani: Gems w/o pink glitter
Finger Paints: Fun-Fetti
OPI: Rainbow Connection

Deborah Lippmann Happy Birthday started it for me.  Milani has two versions. Will it ever end?  I know there are a few more I'm missing.  Which ones do you have?

Milani - Digital

One of my favourite nail polish collections of all times is the 3D Holographic Collection from Milani. Today I'm showing you Digital. The prismatic effect of this pink polish is truly mesmerizing, I love those rainbowy chunks! Digital never looks dull, not even in low light. And it's nice to wear pink, it's been a while! Applying Digital was easy, I used three coats for complete coverage, no top coat.

Thanks for watching and have a great weekend!

Milani 3D Hi-Res vs Ozotic 606 & 608

Another comparison swatch today to show you how freaking great the Milani 3D Holographic polishes are.  I tried to stick to comparing similar finishes here, that is larger particle scattered holos.  If I had China Glaze Octa-Gone Wild from the Kaleidoscope collection, that would have been the fourth perfect inclusion in this comparisons, but sadly I don't, so I put OPI DS Original.

It's also interesting to see how Ozotic 606 and 608 compare in the same swatch.  Although this may be a different version of 608 than others have?!?

I love the richness of the purple colour in the Milani Holo, the colour is so similar to DS Original, even though the finish on those two are totally different.

We have another long weekend here in Canberra this weekend. Whoo Hoo, two in a row! But of course it's set to piss with rain all weekend!  So no nail swatching for me :(

Pink holo comparisons - Milani 3D vs Ozotic

Yesterday at work I was speaking with a manager from our PR area, we were talking about social media, facebook, twitter, yammer, blogs.  I told her that I wrote a blog and she was all interested, then I said it was about nail polish.  She looked at me as though I had two heads and said "how on earth do you ever find enough to post about nail polish".  I started my reply with "Oh you have no idea how..." then I stopped myself.  Poor muggles, they just don't get it.  It was so sweet when she said she had about six polishes, and thought she had too many.  Oh dear!

She just wouldn't understand how one person could end up with four polishes like those featured in this post.  That is, four large particle scattered pink holographics.  To my eye, they are all different, to a muggle they are all just pink and sparkly.

The photos are labeled so you can see the differences yourself.

The old version of Ozotic 601 is the stand out here, but the other three all come a close second.

In the comments yesterday LeeAnn wondered what the Milani 3D holos would be like with Spectraflair added. Sunnydee said she had done it with the silver one and it was awesome, but the yellow one went too pale. I love the idea of a pale yellow/gold, so I think I might franken with one of these Milani 3D's and add some spectraflair to show you how it goes.

Blue holo comparisons - Milani 3D vs Ozotics

It was a public holiday here yesterday and it was sunny, so I was able to do some comparison swatches that I have been wanting to do for ages.

Today's comparison is with blue large particle scattered holographic polishes.  I have three of these, Milani 3D Cyberspace, Ozotic 603 and Ozotic 617.  I'm bummed that I don't have the blue polish from the CG Kaleidoscope collection (I only have six of the 12 polishes from that collection) as I would have loved to have seen how it compared to the Milani and the Ozotics.

Both the Ozotic fingers in the middle have two coats, and as noted on the images, I did one coat of the Milani on the pinky and two coats on the index.  I was amazed how similar one coat looked to 603, then how similar two coats was with 617!

I think there is a slightly more linear appearance to the rainbow in 603, but really the difference between these polishes is marginal.

The best thing is that the Milani 3D polishes are still really easy to get and still cheap.  Although they are not your amazing linear holos like the OMG collection, Nfu Oh or Gosh Holographic, I think they are totally under rated and anyone that is looking for a cheap holo polish should give these a go.

I Spy lots of good things!!

Hello Nail Beautiquers,

I always try to take my camera with me at all times.  You just never know what you may find.  On my way to work I stopped by a Walgreen's that's literally up the street from me.  I like this Walgreen's because it's open 24 hrs.  Here are some collections that I found.  I didn't purchase anything....at least not yet. Lol! *-*

When I saw this New Milani set  my eyes bugged out. Lol!  I haven't seen a new Milani Collection in a few years.  When I first glanced at it I thought it was a collection of Krackles...(notice how they spelled it) I said to myself Milani has jumped on the crack wagon.  It's a beautiful set of 6 shimmers and a black Krackle.  Notice how they demonstrate how to use these.  (cracks me up. Lol!) *-*

When I saw this I shouted Whoa!!  I looked around and glad no one was in the store but little ole me.  (I was there 6am)  Just look at this rack of Cherimoya 2012 Crackles.  There's every color that you can imagine! Let me know if you have tried them.  What colors do you recommend?  It's kinda hard to see the price from the picture, but they are $2.99 each or buy 2 for $5.00...not bad at all *-*

Sally Hansen has some new colors, they are just your average fall colors.

Here are some new Limited Edition Salon Effects nail polish strips from Sally Hansen.  I'm only interested in the first two.  I wish they didn't cost so much $9.99

(Take a closer look you can click on the pictures to enlarge them)

Until next time please have a great nail polish day. (✿◠‿◠) Share/Bookmark

Can it get sweeter than this? ^_^
Thanks for watching!

Milani - Hi-Res

Gorgeous, right? This is Hi-Res from Milani. My camera wouldn't pick up the right colour and made it look quite blueish, in real life it's actually more lavender coloured (the picture on the right is the most colour accurate). Hi-Res has one of my favourite finishes, it's a prismatic! The prismatic particles are quite chunky, they remind me of small pieces of glass. Indoors it looks mostly like a polish with silvery flecks, but when sunlight is added Hi-Res comes to life, woah! I recommend wearing Hi-Res on a sunny day, you'll be amazed by its beauty! I really, really like this one. :L
The formula was good, I used three coats for an opaque result, no topcoat.

Thanks for watching!

Comparison: Catherine Arley #674 & Milani - Cyberspace

Here we have the comparison I promised with #674 from Catherine Arley and Cyberspace from Milani. I applied three coats (no topcoat) and the picture is taken in normal daylight.

First the similarities: they're both baby blue polishes with prismatic particles. The application is very nice, they dry rather quickly and removing them is easy.
The differences: Cyberspace is a bit darker and more opaque; the Catherine Arley one seems to have a tini tiny bit more yellow in it. The prismatic particles in Cyberspace are chunkier and they give a scattered prismatic effect (best seen under bright light), whereas #674's prismatic particles are more delicate and they show off a nice rainbow even in low light.

I prefer the opaqueness of Cyberspace, but I love the rainbow effect of #674. What can I say? I'm happy owning both. :O

Thanks for watching!

Catherine Arley #803

normal daylight - sunlight
It may come to you as a surprise, but I have another Catherine Arley polish for you today! This time it's #803, a lime green prismatic polish. If ogre Fiona would want a sparkly nude, this is the one for her. :O It's very sparkly, especially in sunlight! The prismatic particles don't show a full-on rainbow, most of the time you'll see yellow, orange, green and a blue green. I hate to say it, but I don't like this colour on me at all, it's too yellow-toned and apparently that doesn't compliment my skin tone. But I'll definitely try it again in summertime, when I have a little tan!

I also have a little comparison for you guys with Hi-Tech from Milani. As you can see the Milani one is much lighter, less yellow-toned and less bright if that makes sense. Another difference is the size of the prismatic particles; the ones in Hi-Tech are a bit bigger. Application wise: no differences actually. If I had to choose one I'd go for Hi-Tech, because the colour looks better against my skin tone.

The application of #803 was good! I wouldn't say it's sheer, but I still needed three coats. It applied very nicely, so I don't mind. :) I didn't use a topcoat.

Thanks for watching!

PS, I recommend looking at my post about #667 again, because I added a picture which shows real holo yummyness. Oh, how I love the sunshine! These polishes definitely come to life when sunlight is added.. :L

Blue Monday, Milani Sparkling Blue

Blue Monday by Annie Lee

Milani "Welcome Back Color" Collection 2009

Before I put on 'Sparkling Blue' I thought it would be better to use a creme base so I wouldn't have to put on so many layers.  So, I choose to use SH  Insta-Dri 'Blue Blast' I am glad that I did .

I should have taken a picture of blue blast before I layered it with Sparkling Blue so you can see what it looks like alone.  I used one coat of blue blast and 2 coats of Sparkling Blue.

I am really impressed.
Yellow, pink, teal of glitter goodness!

Lots of bar, and square glitter

Until next time please have a great nail polish day. (✿◠‿◠)

Milani - Hi-Tech

sunlight
During my vacation on Corsica the sun shone almost every day, luckily I took a prismatic nail polish with me. This is Milani - Hi-Tech, a beautiful limegreen with prismatic particles. This polish rocked that hard on my nails... my camera couldn't capture it like I wanted. I love-love-love greens and prismatic polishes, so Hi-Tech is definitely a winner!

The formula was somewhat disappointing, though. Hi-Tech is quite sheer and even after three coats I had to put a little extra polish on some nails to cover some bald spots.

Thanks for watching!

Milani Bare to Wear

Good Morning, Today I have Bare to Wear from the Milani "Dare to Bare Collection".  This collection was found at CVS but I haven't seen this collection in any of my stores.  So, I had to revert to ordering some of them online.  I absolutely enjoy wearing greige type colors.  Bare to Wear was smooth easy to apply only needed 2 coats. It's a great nude!

Look what it looks like with SH hidden treasure on top...

Until next time please have a great nail polish day.
