Eveline Holografic Shine 413

Hello my lovelies! How was your day? My exam went pretty well and I celebrated with a really awesome manicure. But that's a story for another day. Today I have for you an amazing holo from the brand Eveline, that is mostly available in Eastern Europe.

Isn't this lovely? I really don't know how to describe the color of this polish. It's neither pink, nor purple, maybe magenta? It has an amazing holo effect and I was able to catch a glimpse of the sun to photograph it. So all the photos in this post are in the sun! 

Application was easy, in two coats. Unlike my other Eveline holo (previously shown here), this is more opaque (it's also a darker color, of course) and dries faster with two coats. I did apply a quick dry top coat to make it dry even faster. 

I don't remember how much I wore this because it was some time ago. I have to start writing these things down! I'm pretty sure it didn't chip and only showed minor tip wear after a few days. I really like the quality on these! 

The holo effect is amazing in this one, as you can see. It's a really great polish for a low price. I've been told that there's a black one in this collection, but so far I haven't found it. I will keep searching, though. I like these a lot. What do you think? 

H&M Moody Model and some holo

Hello beautiful readers! I'm sorry for the lack of posts this week. I wanted to post this last night, but I ended up going out and didn't have the time. Hope you won't be too mad at me if I show you this beautiful combo. It's a manicure that started as a big failure, but ended up to be awesome. Here's what I'm talking about.

The base color for this is H&M Moody Model. This polish has been in my collection since last summer, but I just couldn't bring myself to wear it until now. It's a teal creme that leans very green and is pretty dark. It actually looks almost black in low light. Now I don't know if this is the regular formula of the polish or it's because it was older, but this was extremely thick. What I don't like about the H&M bottles is the fact that they don't close properly. It might have dried because it came in contact with the air, I don't really know. All I know is that it was impossible to apply and it bubbled like crazy when it dried. Here's a photo of it alone. 

This photo required massive editing to hide the bubbles. After it dried so bubbly, I was unable to wear this mani on its own. I considered removing it, but then I finally decided to do a common trick used to hide imperfections: layering. So I picked up my trusty bottle of INM Northern Lights hologram top coat in silver and added just one coat. The final effect was amazing, smooth and perfect. Plus this top coats has a very shiny finish, just like glass. 

These are light box pictures and they don't really show the holo effect. You can see the silver glitter on the teal base. 

A little blurriness shows some of the holo effect. I ended up loving this manicure. Been wearing it for two days and I only have tiny, unnoticeable tip wear. I'm not ready to remove it just yet. I must get some thinner soon because I already have a bunch of polishes that need it desperately. So what do you think about this mani? How do you solve the problem of thick polishes?

100th post: a-england Tristam

Hello lovelies! This is it! I have posted 100 times on this blog! These 3 months have been so much fun and I really want to thank all my readers because I couldn't have done it alone. It's an honor for me to be part of such an awesome community and I'm glad I've met a lot of fabulous people trough this blogging experience. 

I wanted to celebrate my 100th post by posting something beautiful and what better polish than Tristam. It has been on my wishlist for so long and I couldn't resist ordering it a few weeks ago during the 20% sale. Of course my photos don't do it justice and of course I didn't have any sun while wearing it. I did my best and maybe I will revisit it later and take better pictures.

Tristam is a gorgeous deep blue with a shimmer that gives it a scattered holographic effect. It's very hard to capture on camera, but so much more beautiful in person. I did 2 coats for opacity and drying time was very fast. It dried very shiny, but I did put a top coat on to make it last longer and dry even faster. 

The first two pictures were taken in my light box and you can see the holo effect is not visible at all. So I tried photographing in direct light to capture it. The next two pictures show the holo better. Please click to enlarge! 

I really love this polish and I'm so glad I got it. It reminds me of a starry sky and it's just so elegant. I think every blue lover should have a bottle of this (or two if it gets discontinued). So what do you think? 

China Glaze Atlantis

Hello again! I've got another treat for you today! If you've seen my recent nailsupplies.us haul, you know that one of my purchases was the amazing China Glaze Atlantis, a glitter that has been on my wishlist for some time now. Today I decided to layer it over yesterday's Essie School of Hard Rocks manicure.

Unfortunately, we had no sun today, so all the pictures are with artificial light.

 Atlantis is an aqua/teal green glitter in a pretty sheer jelly base. The glitter is holographic, which makes for this polish to look like jewels on your nails. Maybe it's the fact that I've layered it over a green-based teal polish, but this looks more green in person that many of the swatches I've seen on the internet. I think I've captured it pretty accurately in my photos. If you wanna use it on its own, you will probably have to use about 4 coats to get it opaque. I personally think that would be a waste of this beauty.

Personally, I love love love this polish, but I wouldn't wear it to work/school. I think it's something you wear on a night out (hey it's Saturday night!) or on special occasions. What do you think? 

Eveline Holografic Shine 405

I have found this polish not too long ago in a local shop and was amazed that holographic polishes are finally showing up on our market. I had to get it immediately and test it out. I wasn’t expecting much and was thinking the holo effect would be a more subtle one like the S-he Stylezone I’ve previously showed you here. But my expectations were exceeded. Check this beauty out!

 Color:

Eveline Holografic (yes, with an f) Shine 405 is a light purple holo. It’s a scattered holo, but I still have to say the effect is pretty strong. This is the first true holo polish I own and I’m truly amazed by it. I couldn’t stop staring at my nails in bright light.

Application:

The polish is pretty sheer so you will need 3 coats for full coverage. Even then some nail line is visible in certain lights, so if you are disturbed by that you might want to add a 4^th coat or use some kind of purple polish underneath. Other than that application is smooth. The brush is small and I like that. However this polish does not dry by itself. I didn’t have the patience to let it dry and put a fast drying top coat over it. With so many coats and such a drying speed, it would probably take an hour for it to dry by itself.

Durability:

Here’s another thing that surprised me with this polish. Once it’s dry, it really stays put! I wore it for 4 days with only minimal tip wear and no chips whatsoever. Now for its price, this is truly amazing. I didn’t have the patience to wear it until it chipped, but I still think it was a decent amount of time.

 Verdict:

This polish is a true beauty. If you’re willing to go over its sheerness and use a top coat to make it dry, it’s a very affordable and durable alternative to the more famous holographics out there.

Eyeko Cosmic polish

This is one of the discontinued Eyeko polishes that can currently be bought only on ebay ( I wrote about this here). I wanted to get this last summer, but since it’s a dark color I postponed getting it till fall. And just when I wanted to order it, Eyeko stopped selling it, however I still managed to get my hands on a bottle.

 Color:

This is a black polish with silver holographic glitter. It has a certain dept to it which makes for that galaxy type effect. It is especially nice in the sun and in the light, but I have found that the holo in it is not that holo after all. It’s more of a discrete holo, very wearable and not crazy at all.

 Application:

The Eyeko brush is a medium width and pretty long one. I wouldn’t mind if it was thinner, because I’m a true fan of the thin China Glaze and Essie brushes. The length goes with the tall bottle, but you have to be careful while polishing because drops of polish will run down the stem and get on your nail. Other than that, application is no problem and the polish is opaque in two coats.

Eyeko polishes wear very well usually. This one started to show tip wear after two days, but I guess it’s normal considering the horrors I put it through (house work and whatnot). I wore it for 4 days and that's when it chipped. But now I remember that all this might be also because of the crappy base coat I've used with it.

 Dupes:

So the question with this polish is: is it a real tragedy that Eyeko discontinued it or not? Well, I have found that it is very easily dupe-able. I just added some Northern Lights Hologram top coat over a black polish (Moyra 35 in my case, but it can be any black) and there I had it. This combo however has a bigger holo effect than the Cosmic polish. You can see this from the comparison pictures.

Verdict:

Eyeko Cosmic is a good quality, easily appliable polish. If you are looking for a galaxy nails type polish with a more subtle holo effect, this one is for you (hurry because it’s not gonna be available for long). But if you’re looking for an intense holo effect, just get yourself a holo top coat and you’re all set.

A purple accent mani

China Glaze Grape Pop is a polish I’ve been wanting for a long time. It’s not a very uncommon color. If you have OPI Funky Dunkey, Orly Charged Up or RBL Mismas you probably won’t be needing this, as they are very similar. I’ve also added a bit of bling to the mani by painting a coat of INM Northern Lights hologram top coat on the ring finger (you can see both these polishes in my last haul). 

Color:

Grape Pop is a medium purple, similar to grapes, as the name states. It has a lot of dupes or very similar colors (see above), but I think it’s a staple color that everyone should have in their collection.

Application:

The polish has the regular China Glaze formula and was very easy to apply. I used 2 coats. It could be opaque in only one, depending on how thick your coats are and how carefull you are. The brush is medium width, but has a very long stem so you have to be carefull because while applying, drops of polish come down from the stem and could ruin your nail.

Durability:

I wore this for 5 days and had some minor chips on the 4^th day of wear. Considering that I didn’t put any base coat under it and put my nails under a lot of stress in these days, this polish has a pretty good wear time.

Verdict:

I just love this color and will be wearing it a lot this fall (even if it’s a spring color). And of course love the formula of China Glaze too, so no issues there.

My first post and my first holo

Hi everybody! This is my first post on this blog. I plan to talk about nail polish and show you my nail designs. Hopefully some of you will find my posts useful or at least fun to read. My pictures are not the best, but I plan to improve so until then please bear with me. Today I will show you a polish from the Austrian brand S-he stylezone. You can find it at DM (Drogerie Markt) shops located in Germany, Austria and eastern Europe. S-he Stylezone 155 is my first holographic nail polish. Some of you may know it as 427. I think they changed the numbering on the new packaging, but I can’t be sure as I don’t own the old one. My guess is that these S-he people are only trying to confuse us.

Color:

The color is pink, the finish is, well, a holo. It is not a very spectacular one, but still looks pretty holo to me. My affair with pink polish is nonexistent. We don’t like each other and so I don’t wear it. But for the reason of holo, this is also the first pink polish I ever got. There’s not much holographic polish around here to buy so we have to settle for what we have.

Application:

I am not exaggerating when I say that this is the easiest polish I have ever worked with. It applied like a dream, and while being packed with holo glitter it wasn’t sheer at all and was opaque in 2 coats. I literally made no mistakes when applying it. It dried quickly to a shiny, perfect finish. No top coat was used.

Durability:

I found this one to be very good quality. I wore it for about a week to 10 days and only minor chips and tip wearing were present when I removed it. Considering it had no top coat, I think that is just great. The S-he polishes are not expensive at all (about 3 euros/4 $) so I think you get your money’s worth. I have many polishes from this brand and so far only one of them was disappointing. But that’s a story for a different post.

Verdict:

This is a great one. I just couldn’t stop looking at my nails for one week. Everything is so great about it and I don’t even mind the fact that it’s pink. 5 stars!
