Accessorize Nail Polishes - A/W and Metallic Collection Review

Greetings, all!

Today I have 2 Accessorize polishes under review - I remember when Accessorize first launched their cosmetic range and was SO pleasantly surprised when the quality turned out to be top notch. My Coral Crush Lipstick is still one of my favourite make-up items over 1 year after buying.

Accessorize have recently launched 19 new shades of Nail Polish, including a metallic range - woweee!

I decided to give you some Nail Art to perv over, rather than just do a standard, plain review - I'm just THAT kind to you! I started with a base of 2 coats of the Accessorize Winter Berry - a gorgeous warm-toned plum colour. It's the perfect wintery shade, in my opinion, and looks loooovely on the nails.

Now, if you follow the blog regularly, you'll know I don't really care for metallic finishes - they are not my fave - but they are PERFECT for stamping. This is especially the case for Accessorize Aquamarine, as it is a perfect one-coater and designed that way. I stamped the leafy image from Bundle Monster Image Plate BM210 and added a coat of Seche Vite to reveal the glitteryness.

used the flash so you can see the lovely glitteryness of Aquamarine!

Both polishes have a great consistency, with Winter Berry being especially glossy and easy to apply. They are brilliantly pigmented so these little babies will be great value for money. A definite YES in my book, I can see myself using Winter Berry constantly for a chic, winter look and Aquamarine for stamping. Excellenté.

You can snaffle yourself some Accessorize polishes from SuperDrug

Let me know what you think! Have you tried any of the new Accessorize polishes?

I think it's time that this guy made another appearance. Don't knock it, it is completely and utterly necessary.

These polishes were kindly provided by Accessorize for review. opinions are 100% honest and in no way influenced! :)

Color Club - Get A Clue: Stamped & Mattified

After swatching and wearing all those prismatic nail polishes I was in the mood for something different. The base colour I used for this mani is Color Club - Get A Clue, a beautiful light pink creme. My camera makes pinks like these look more blue-toned than they actually are, this is a true pink. I needed three coats for a smooth and even surface. I added some subtle stamping with bundle monster plate BM-201 and Millennium from China Glaze. To make my nails look (and feel) even softer I applied a layer of matte top coat from Essence. I love mattified metallic stamping!

Thanks for watching! :)

Some Layla Magneffects

Have you jumped on board the magnetic nail polish train yet?  I'm such a sucker for fancy effects in nail polish like these.  I must say that I never really got into the crackle phase, but I am totally getting on board the magnetic phase with gusto!

Here are a couple of the Layla Magneffect polishes that I picked up with my Layla Holo order last week.  These have been around for quite a few months now, but the colour range of the Layla Mageneffects is one of the best I have seen. I think they have 16 colours.

Each bottle of the Layla Magneffects has a small round magnet on the top of the bottle with a line on it.  You can use that magnet to create lines .  For these manis I actaully used other magnets that I had.  The Layla bottle magnet works very well, but it's lines are further apart than these.

Metallic Sky

Purple Galaxy

Sparkling Champagne

Turquoise Wave

The formula on all these was excellent.  Some of these polishes could be one coaters (thick, but it would work) but for all these photos I did one coat without the magnet, then a second coat using the magnet.

The star magnet is most definitely the trickiest to master.  It's very hard to line it up correctly on the nail both vertically and horizontally.   I'm totally getting the China Glaze magnetics as well as the magnet as soon as I can, but what I'm really lemming for is a bottle of one of the Icing magnetic polishes with the wavey design as seen here. Any US readers interested in a swap with me so I can get one of those?

Take the Load Off

Two days of skiing did a number to my limbs. All I wanted to do all day today was sit down and take a load off. Tired eyes and tired legs need the time off.

Bare all this in mind when reading these polishes names.

Elegant and simple, this manicure was inspired by my friend Tammy, who said she had seen something similar on Pintrest. I haven't been able to find the image she was talking about, nor do I know which colors they used, but I used Illamasqua Load and Sinful Colors Time Off.

I know, so clever. About as clever as I can get without overstimulating my tired brain into a state of malfunction.

Zoya Nail Polish in Russian Vogue and on Vogue.ru

Google translation (soooooooo)...
"Another brand arrived in stores Cosmotheca. Its name, do not laugh, - Zoya. Creator of brands - Russian pianist Zoya Reyzis, immigrated to the United States with her husband, a chemist Michael and, apparently, has found a career cosmetologist more promising than the music. At the while she took care of persons of American clients, Michael mixed in the laboratory of anti-aging creams (brand Qtica), and in the future and have nail polish. The site marks says that Michael made the first quick-drying nail polish, and the first non-toxic varnishes. I do not know if this is true, but that paints a very high quality - a fact. Perfect fit, dries quickly and stay long (by my standards, a long time - four days). I really like Zoya in metallic shades, unobtrusive and intelligent. "

Konad Multi Stamp and Sunday's Manicure

Happy Sunday,

After Friday's manicure today I decided to do some stamping.  Before I show you my nails  I purchased the new Konad Multi Stamp.  Since the scraper is attached to the stamper it works alot faster for me.  Just scrap and stamp. What I like about it, I have my plate on top of a paper towel after scraping on the design  I slide the scraper on the paper towel, this cleans off the polish so no drips. Then all I do is stamp. This elevates me from cleaning off the scraper with a cotton ball or Qtip. What I don't like about it is the metal scraper wish it were plastic because the metal scrapes up the plates.  Other then that I'm glad I got this :D

The stamper is double sided the other end is green and smaller. The holder is nice to display it on top of your nail station.
Here are the directions

I stamped my (right hand) non dominant hand first, but got better stamping results with my dominant hand (left hand).  Everytime I stamp my left hand comes out so much better.  (Wonder why?)

My right hand

I used Revlon LilyChrome with plate Red Angel RA107

Left hand

I like how you can see the glitter peeking through the silver chrome and how you can see like a shadow of the glitter through the petals of the design.

Hope you are having a great Sunday!

The Tortoise and the Hare...

So it's been a while. I know. I apologize. It was part laziness, part exhaustion, part lack of inspiration, and part internet at home not working for a while. Enough excuses though, it's nail art time. I almost put off posting until tomorrow night, I've been on a 'Six Feet Under' kick today, but I promised my colleague Prob that I would post this weekend, and so I shall. :)

Today's design kinda popped in my head the other day, and I knew that I had to try it out. I tried a combination of using a crumpled paper towel and a brush to apply to get the effect that I wanted. It's not exactly how I pictured it, but I'm reasonably satisfied with how it turned out. :)

I used H&M Rust as a base, with a mixture of Seche Vite top coat and American Apparel Raccoon to create shapes on the background color. For the next layer of shapes, I used a mixture of Seche Vite top coat and MAC Rich, Dark, Delicious. Finally, I used a mixture of Seche Vite top coat and American Apparel Hassid. I topped it all off with 2 coats of Seche Vite top coat.

Fun Sunday: The Versatile Blogger Award

Hello loves and happy Sunday to you all! First, a little rant. Next week is gonna be very busy because I have a really hard exam and so little time to study. I have a lot of pictures to edit but no time to do it. So I'm gonna do something that I haven't done before, take a longer blogging break. I'm gonna be done on Friday, so don't expect a new post until then. Hope you will forgive me!

I was nominated for this award by two lovely bloggers. You can check out their blogs yourself  here: I Bleed Polish and Psycho Nails. I'm very honored and thankful that they thought of me! The reason I've been postponing this post is the fact that I have to write 7 random things about myself (again) and I'm not very good at that. Even while I'm writing this introduction, I have no idea what I'm gonna say about myself. Oh well...

1.I drive a blue Citroen C3. It's a small car, but so easy to drive and I love it!
2.I'm kind of a morning person. Well, I'm not one of those who wake up at 6 am, but I function better in the morning. I hate it when I have classes in the afternoon and studying at night just doesn't work for me.
3.I have a very good visual memory and that's what I rely on when studying.
4.I'm really bad at remembering numbers. The only way I can remember them is by visualizing them written (visual memory again).
5.I'm always early when I have to be somewhere at a certain time. I hate being on the rush and I love taking my time to do stuff properly.
6.I live in the attic of my house. It's a very large room and I have a lot of privacy, which I love.
7.I used to love playing computer games but now I don't have time to do it anymore. I envy the people who have a lot of free time.

That's it. Hope I didn't bore you too much. I was supposed to pass this to 15 other bloggers, but since I'm the last one to do this tag, I'm sure everybody has got this by now. If you haven't, please feel free to do it. I hope you all have a nice and fun Sunday!
